One of the reasons why I am wild about hiking is the reward of dramatic scenarios, like the one of the Matterhorn - what I consider the most beautiful mountains in Europe – reflected in a small pond.
And when I’m lucky enough to be almost alone, as was the case during this hike, for a little while I feel as if the world was mine.
What a blissful emotion…

Great photo, Simon! Zermatt is so close but I haven’t made it there yet! You will have to give me some tips on where to hike!

Thank you, Gray. I consider the Matterhorn as the most beautiful and inspiring mountain in Europe. Glad you like the photo!
What a view!! Postcard indeed!
Is that a could on the top? It makes me wonder is it a active volcano or what?
I’ve heard of this mountain. It is so beautiful! Are you gonna hiking there? wow Nice view!
No no, Juno. Not a volcano, ‘just’ a mountain. So wonderful that it has become one of the major symbols of Switzerland!
I totally agree. To stand, quiet, amid such majesty is wondrous. I used to seek cities more. Now I’m seeking more of this in my travels.

I feel the same, Janice. More and more in quest of wilderness and spots where you’re overwhelmed by the beauty of the nature…
perfect mirror image reflected in the water. u could fold it in half!
Thanks for the tips about free photos on the web. I went to the website you mention (A collection of free photos), and I found a picture of Italy I wanted to use, but then it linked to a person’s blog and there was a copyright listed. Hmm. That confused me a little, so I didn’t want to use it just in case. But I found some other pics online just by searching for what I needed.
I am a professor of English as a Second Language, so I understand your feeling of difficulty in expressing yourself in a foreign language. However, you write in English beautifully, and I didn’t even notice that it’s not your first language.
I see that you have posted about Peru but I haven’t read them in detail. I am thinking about going there this summer for the first time, so I will be reading them more carefully.
Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting. And thanks also for your compliments regarding my English writing. I’m doing my best to express and share emotions but I also know there’s a lot to improve. Well… That’s good exercise!
Peru is simply wonderful, one of the most awesome countries I visited. It can be a little tough for altitude, but the sceneries are so various and gorgeous. If I can help you with some advice just tell me! Cheers!
Fantastic shot!
Being alone in a magnificent setting like this is very uplifting.
Sometime I get to see some fantastic sites when travelling but don’t always have a camera to hand.
How kind of you! Thanks. True, being alone (or almost) in front of a beautiful scenery really gives a wonderful feeling. Sometimes I have the camera with me, and sometimes not. When this happens, I put all my efforts in imprinting the image in my mind…
This picture and the description capture what I love about your blog: fantastic photography and words that really convey a genuine love of traveling! I visit often, and I even recommended it to a couple friends after these last 2 great posts.

Two of my favorite places are Italy and Indonesia, so I’m looking forward to reading your posts related to those 2 countries.
I started writing a travel blog, too, but my photography is done on any cheap camera I have (some pics I’ve even scanned from old print photos from when I lived abroad in the 90′s!). Seeing your photos and some others on other blogs has inspired me to spend the money on a high-quality digital camera that takes “real” pictures.
Thank you so much for you lovely comment. I’m glad that you enjoy reading my posts. I put a lot of passion in it, but it’s not always easy to express emotions in a foreign language.
I’ve seen that you mentioned my blog among a few of your favorites. That’s so kind of you and I feel honored.
Regarding the photos, you also have nice ones in your blog and you can anyway find awesone free pics on the web. Some photos displayed in my posts are mine, but other are not. This happens mostly when I tell about travels that I did a long time ago, before the digital era, when I used to do lots of slides.
Cheers!
