Modernisme in Blue

Modernisme in Blue

In art and architecture, I have opposed tastes. On one side, I like simple, clean and elegant shapes – as for instance in the Guggenheim Museum in New York and in Bilbao. Similarly, my favorite churches are the Romanesque ones, of which I like the pureness of the shapes.

With a few exceptions, I’m not really fond of baroque architecture and painting – so overly decorated and excessive – but… I love Modernisme and never get tired of admiring the awesome buildings in Barcelona. The architectural details are extremely rich, still there’s an overall harmony and lightness that makes me think at the music of Mozart. Strange association of ideas, you may think…

  1. It’s stunning!

  2. I understand the association as well. The emotions in Mozart’s music, chaotic and detailed could be found, again, in the rich details of this photo :) nice photos and blog!

    • Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Sandra. You surely got it how much I’m in love with Barcelona :-)

  3. I can see where you would see that association. There’s a lot of movement in the design.
