Wild and Beautiful Andes

Peru, the Andes

I often long the mighty Andes, the stunning views, the white glaciers, the blue lagoons with their crystal-clear water. The mountains in Peru are so different from the Alps. It’s not only a matter of higher altitude, it’s a matter of shapes and colors. I was surprised by the vegetation, tropical plants (at least, I think they’re tropical) at high altitudes, plants and trees at heights where you wound never find them in Europe. Wild and beautiful, the Andes come back often to my memory.

  1. The area around Mt. Huascarán and the nearby lagoon is isolated and majestic! I loved visiting and photographing it. So much so that the lagoon is my icon on my Facebook page!

    • 10 days… Wow! You’re much braver than I was. And true… The sky in Peru is almost unique.

  3. Awww… I love how you write ‘appreciate them from afar’… You awesome, Ayngelina!

  4. The Andes really are spectacular and so different depending on what country you are in. I’m not a mountain fan but I love appreciating them from afar.
