05 Aug Overlooking Bintan Rocks at Dusk
A favorite spot by Singaporeans for a short break, Bintan island was an unexpected lovely surprise of my Southeast Asia Journey.
I had the privilege of being invited to spend a day at the gorgeous Banyan Tree, in what I guess is likely the most beautiful area of Bintan, within a luxuriant greenery. I was staying at one of the Villa on the Rocks, overlooking the China sea and the polished boulders that make the view so special.
From the terrace, immersed in an unbelievable silence, I was captured by the colors at dusk, as the night was slowing falling down on Bintan.
Calm and secluded, deep in the jungle and at the same time offering the nicest amenities, I am not surprised that many Singaporeans chose to spend at Banyan Tree Bintan their weekend. A pity, though, that island is so little known as it makes a perfect destination for a few days of relax and indulging for travelers traveling in Southeast Asia and arriving from Singapore.
The island is very easy to reach from Singapore with a 1-hour ferry ride. Bintan Resorts Ferries leave from the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal – not far from Changi Airport – 5 times per day during weekdays and 7 times at weekends. From Friday to Sunday, reservation is strongly advised.
