TIERRA DEL FUEGO NATIONAL PARK

Ushuaia and Tierra del Fuego National Park: My First Discovery of Patagonia Wilderness

//  by Simon//  Leave a Comment

As the flight started its descent, the excitement mounted. I would soon reach Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost city also nicknamed “the end of the world.”

From my window seat, I looked in awe at the ample bay surrounded by mountains and counted the minutes.

Buenos Aires Street Art in La Boca

A Visual Tour of Buenos Aires Beautiful Street Art Scene

//  by Simon//  1 Comment

I started being more seriously interested into street art a few years ago, after a trip to Brighton where for the first time I saw some seriously beautiful and creative murals.

It might sound strange to many, but in Italy, we’re often plagued with senseless graffiti which are nothing more than vandalism and little quality street art, although this started to change over the last few years. The reason is simple: we have so many historical – and wonderful – buildings that there’s not much available space left for street artists.

Upsala and Spegazzini Glaciers in Photos: A Triple Challenge

//  by Simon//  Leave a Comment

Imagine a swinging boat, strong gusts of wind and people moving around on the deck, as the ship approaches the Upsala and Spegazzini glaciers.  It’s summer in Patagonia, but it feels rather like winter. Wearing a warm sweater, quilted jacket, hat, gloves and scarf, I brave the cold and the wind, decided not to lose …

Across Patagonia Argentina: An Instagram Photo Story (Part 2)

//  by Simon//  2 Comments

It’s hard to stop taking photos when traveling across Patagonia Argentina. Camera around my neck, iPhone in my hand, sometimes I wish I was like a Hindu goddess, with multiple arms. More marvels to share (following the first part of my Patagonia Instagram Story) of this wild and sometimes surreal region of South America. El Chaltèn, …

Across Patagonia Argentina: An Instagram Photo Story (Part 1)

//  by Simon//  3 Comments

Immense, wild, harsh, remote and incredibly fascinating: Patagonia Argentina is all this and a lot more. I wrote a few stories of my journey across Patagonia, and more will follow. I have thousands pictures that I still have to select and edit. And when I feel nostalgia for Patagonia’s dazzling beauty, I go through the moments I crystallised with my …

Falling in Love with Bariloche and Nahuel Huapi National Park

//  by Simon//  6 Comments

Don’t miss Bariloche and Nahuel Huapi National Park if you travel to Patagonia. The panoramic road to the LLao Llao peninsula is stunning. The pristine lakes, with their blue and turquoise shades, are idyllic. And there are lovely hikes with beautiful views.

Perito Moreno Glacier: A Rhapsody in Blue

//  by Simon//  5 Comments

My love affair with ice and the glaciers started a few years ago. I started courting them timidly, from far away, not yet sure how to best approach them. I could feel their majesty, aware of how small I was. I marveled in front of their beauty. I thought that they had been there for …

Responsible Trekking in Los Glaciares National Park

//  by Simon//  2 Comments

“We need your help to keep Los Glaciares National Park pristine“, says the ranger.  “If we all work together, we’ll be able to preserve Los Glaciares as it is for the future generations“. Most morning and early afternoon buses arriving from El Calafate stop at the Visitors Centre before reaching El Chaltèn. Passengers are split …
