22 Apr Fine Dining at Comerç 24 | A wonder for the Eyes and Palate
I recently spent a long weekend in Barcelona, one of my top 3 favorite cities in Europe. Since I was traveling with my friend Adele who is an amazing fine gourmet and a sommelier, food and wine were on top of our schedule. She had a good list of restaurants and tapas bars, thus starving was non an option…
Comerç 24 was one of our favorite options, although we knew it was an ambitious goal. Awarded 1 star by Michelin Guide Comerç 24, the restaurant launched in 2000 by chef Carles Abellan – a former disciple of El Bulli‘s culinary genius Ferran Andrià – has a long waiting list. Thanks to Adele’s relationships with many journalists and with the help of the staff in our hotel we were able to get a table for dinner. Lucky girls!
We opted for the 7 courses Menu and started a memorable fine dining experience. Dish after dish, Carles Abellan culinary genius was a rejoice for our eyes and pure nirvana for our taste buds. I can’t find words… Only photos can give at least an idea…
Chicken with Prawn, Crisp and Potato Sauce is one of the Comerç 24 most famous dishes, at it is fully worth its reputation.
Tuna Tartare with Roe and Egg Yolk Vinaigrette is both delicate and tasteful, a very interesting blend of flavors.
Bread, Oil, Chocolate, and Salt, and Sablee with Pineapple and Meringue (photo above) is one of the most amazing dessert I ever had. I simply felt in heaven!
_______
The restaurant is fashionable but without excess and provides a very pleasant ambiance.
Last but not least, the price which is definitely fair considered the level of the restaurant, awarded 1 star by the world-famous Michelin Guide.
_______
Those willing to experience Carles Abellan fabulous cuisine keeping the bill at a more reasonable level can opt for Tapas24, the recently opened lovely Tapas bar close to the Paseo de Gràcia.
